Amber Alert
Canceled, Feb. 12.

A'Shia Jenkins 2-month-old baby, abducted at 7:05 a.m. from Druid Hill and Moser Avenue in Baltimore, Md. She is African American, about 21" long, 8 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a purple snowsuit and hat, a pink t-shirt and yellow socks.

Police are no longer looking for an African American man in his late 20's or early 30's, wearing a black and white striped shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

Police canceled the Amber Alert on Wednesday, saying a report by the girl's father that an unlicensed taxi driver had sped away with the child was a "fabrication."

Police spokeswoman Ragina Averella declined to say whether the father is now considered a suspect, saying only that the investigation is continuing.

"We believe it to be untrue based on inconsistencies in his story and information detectives have uncovered," Averella said.

Police picked through a landfill Wednesday looking for the missing 2-month-old girl, A'Shia Jenkins.

The father, Kenneth Jenkins, 20, and the girl’s unidentified mother were questioned for hours by law enforcement officials after the child was reported missing Tuesday morning.

Police did not reveal what led them to the bin.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Maryland State Police and Baltimore City PD (410) 396-2100.
