A statewide Amber Alert for the 15-year-old Boyle Heights mother taken at gunpoint by her 22-year-old boyfriend this week was canceled Friday, after she called to say she was with him willingly.

But the search continues for Roberto Tapia, who allegedly fired shots at Crystal Quevedo's brother Wednesday, and is wanted for outstanding felony warrants, police said.

The girl's mother got a call from the teenager at 9:30 a.m., police said. The daughter said she was with the suspected drug dealer of her own accord, said Los Angeles police Detective Larry Broadhurst.

The girl also criticized her mother "for going to the press" and asking for her safe return, he said.

The suspect, Roberto Tapia (pictured far right), Hispanic male, 5'08", 175Lbs. black hair, brown eyes. He was last seen wearing white t-shirt, blue jeans, blue hat.

The suspect was driving a 1997-1999 black Toyota Camry, with unknown license plate. Police suspect that they are headed to Mexico via Arizona.

Police said Tapia and Quevedo had a child together but had recently split.

"They had recently broken up, but he came to the home today and demanded to see her," police Detective Larry Broadhurst said. "When her brother tried to keep that from happening, he drew a weapon and fired several rounds at the brother."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Los Angeles PD at (323)526-3004.
